Interesting look at it all. You were right that the average guy has been feeling these pressures for a long time. Just one question, where will public teachers find work? That makes me a bit nervous.

This is an easy one. Just imagine, that instead of working for the government, you are simply working for a private school. The word "public" in front of teacher is the only thing binding you to the government. A teacher does not have to work for the government any more than any other profession (other than politician, obviously), and there will always be a demand for teachers. So, I would not worry. =)

Only issue with that is that around here, all the private schools are religious. I couldn't teach at a religious school.
