Several years ago, my youngest son, then still in high school, very much disliked riding the school bus, so his mother or I normally drove him to school. This really made me angry, because the bus stopped right in front of our house, and all he had to do was be there, and it would take him to school and bring him home, and it seemed a terrible waste of time and resources for us to drive him. Then one day I realized that I could help him in school just by driving him. The idea that I was helping him, rather than him imposing on me, totally reversed my attitude about driving him to school.
